Properties Dialog (Topics)
This dialog displays basic properties (name, location, size, date created, date last modified) of the topic file. It also lets you set various properties for the topic file.
Following are the primary tasks performed in this dialog:
- Condition tags You can apply condition tags to the topic file. See Developing Outputs and Applying Condition Tags to Content.
- File tags You can associate file tags with the topics. See About File Tagging and Associating Tags with Files.
- Language You can select a language to be used for spell checking in the project. See About Language Support and Selecting a Language for Spell Check.
- Search (include/exclude) You can include or exclude the topic when full-text search is generated. This feature applies only to DotNet Help and the WebHelp outputs (WebHelp, WebHelp Plus, WebHelp AIR, WebHelp Mobile). In HTML Help, all topics are always searchable. If you disable this feature, the topic will be excluded from the search, but it will still be included in the generated output. See Including or Excluding Topics in Search.
- Snippet conditions You can create snippet conditions in a topic. Snippet conditions are condition tags that you can apply to content within snippets. With snippet conditions, you can separate certain snippet content so that it displays in some topics or master pages but not in others. This allows you to use one snippet for many purposes, rather than having to create multiple snippets. Whereas regular conditions are included or excluded at the target level, snippet conditions are included or excluded at the topic or master page level. See Using Snippet Conditions, About Snippets, Creating Condition Tags, and Applying Condition Tags to Content.
- Style class You can select a topic style class (i.e., based on the <html> tag) to associate with any topic in your project. The properties for this style class will be applied to the entire topic. The following style classes are provided in the drop-down list: task, concept, reference, topic. These options are typically used if you are generating DITA output from the project. If you do not select any of these, the "topic" class is applied to the topic by default. If you want to use a custom style class instead, you can open the style sheet, select the html style, and create your own topic style class. In order for you to use this feature, the appropriate style sheet must be selected in the Stylesheet field in the Properties dialog (not enabled if you are using a master style sheet). See Setting Style Classes for Topics. Also see About Styles and Style Sheets and Editing Styles.
- Title You can change the name of the topic title. See Changing Topic Titles.
