You must install Microsoft SQL Server
If you are installing the MadCap Feedback Server, as opposed to using the hosted service, you need to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2005 Standard or Express. Otherwise, you only need Compact in order to take advantage of SQL-related features in Flare. See About MadCap Feedback.

When installing SQL Server, it is recommended that you accept the default settings as you move through the installation wizard. If you want to explore any of the alternative options, please refer to the documentation provided with Microsoft SQL Server.
Note: SQL Server Compact will not run on Windows 2000. Also, for 64-bit systems, the 32-bit version of Compact is supported under WOW64 mode until a native 64-bit version is available.
Note: If you are using MadCap Feedback and you are installing Microsoft SQL Server on a remote machine, you must have "sysadmin permission" on the SQL Server itself (by default, administrators of the machine will usually have the correct permissions on the SQL Server).
If you are using Windows Vista or later versions, you do not automatically have administrative privileges when installing SQL Server 2005. However, you can manually add yourself as an SQL Server administrator by using the following steps.
