Improving Analyzer Scan Performance
When Analyzer scans a project for possible issues and problems, you might notice that your computer's system performance slows down. One reason for this could be the collection of phrases that Analyzer performs during a scan. You can improve this system performance by disabling phrase collection or lowering the number of words that are included in a phrase. However, disabling phrase collection will not allow you to capture frequent phrases or index keyword suggestions. It also means you will not be able to use IntelliSense.
How to improve Analyzer scan performance
- Open Flare, but do not open a project yet.
-
Select Tools>Options.
The Options dialog opens.
- Select the Analyzer tab.
- Set the appropriate option.
- Disable Collecting Phrases Select this check box if you want to disable the collection of phrases while Analyzer scans your project. Phrase collection allows you to view information about your project such as frequent phrases found and index keyword suggestions. It is also used to power IntelliSense (see About IntelliSense). However, this type of data retrieval can also cause a bigger strain on your computer while you work. Therefore, if you want Analyzer to scan your project but you do not mind skipping frequent phrases and index keyword suggestions, you can set this option.
- Maximum word count for phrases When Analyzer performs a scan on your project and collects phrases, it typically reports on groups of words that are no more than 30 words total. The smaller the number of words included in a phrase, the better the performance of your computer during a scan. Therefore, you can improve your system performance during a scan by setting this to a lower number.
Note: In order for these options to be effective, you must set the options before opening your project. If you have your project open and a scan is in process, setting these options will not improve your system performance.
- Click OK.
